The “Society” in Piney Woods Society Press refers to the culture, the overall society, of the Piney Woods region of the United States, primarily the far eastern part of Texas. While Piney Woods Society Press is not a publishing arm of a particular organization or group, it is indeed a small publishing company rooted deeply in the identity of the 54,400-square-mile forest of the ecoregion. East Texas is often an underestimated place, frequently overlooked and dismissed, primarily because of the perception that it’s too rural and too traditional. However, such attributes, paired with an understanding of the world around it, make its residents more savvy than naïve.

 

It’s in that vein that Piney Woods Society Press publishes a wide variety of texts focused on productivity, wellness, organization, planning, learning, and common sense.

 

 

 

About the Piney Woods:

 

The Piney Woods of East Texas are bordered to the west by plateaus and plains of Central Texas with cities such as Dallas, Ft. Worth, and Waco, to the southwest by the Texas Hill Country with cities such as Austin and San Antonio, to the south by the Gulf Coast with the Houston metropolitan area, to the southeast by Cajun Country, to the east by the American South, to the northeast by the Ozarks, and the northwest by Oklahoma and the Great American Central Plains. Ever since the first settlers from the early Nineteenth-Century US arrived in East Texas, it has abounded in heritage, and it has been influenced not only by all the regions surrounding it and the rest of the US, but also the rest of the world, past and present.
